indianyellow
Ted Karkut
Opening: Sat, September 30 (2-5 pm)
Most of the works in "indianyellow" use plant materials that were gathered from natural surroundings in the urban environment. Preparing these materials often took a long time and demanded concentration – these are important disciplines in approaching the final form, to make it both simple and spontaneous.
The concerns of the pan-Indian mind – how to depict in physical form the underlying reality, or in other words, how to make the sublime take physical form – are what I'm after here.
Of course, using that "mystical" Indian yellow, one of my favourite colours, makes the task, and end result, all the more purposeful.
