Another Side of the Island explores facets of life on Cape Breton Island rarely experienced by outsiders. While the island’s natural majesty attracts throngs of tourists seeking traditional scenes of beauty, this exhibition focuses beneath the surface to reveal a place more varied, peculiar, and complex than what is popularly believed. Subjects include the charming diversions of small-town life, the post-industrial generation of island youth, and the off-kilter serenity of lost objects and frozen shorelines.
