My work consists primarily of figure paintings.  They are explorations of our lives as humans and our relationship with the environment, natural or man-made. The goal is to inform a particular experience through the fabrication of a fictional narrative. The images are a meditative mix of memories, perception, speculation, dreams and wishful thinking. It's an effort to examine the ephemeral nature of the human condition.

I started to explore these themes with mostly representational paintings. But recently I achieve this often through varying degrees of simplification and abstraction. The images are reduced to outlines and basic forms. The brush strokes are often incidental and colours are layered. This allows mistake and happenstance to transform and further inspire the creative process.
